Modeling and Acting Tips - What to Watch For When Looking For a Training Center or Agency Watch for and be wary of agencies who promise or guarantee work. No one can guarantee work. Watch for agencies that want you to buy a portfolio/press book - portfolios are built, not bought. Check out the Better Business Bureau. Be sure the company does not have an excessive number of complaints. Exercise caution with people who want to take pictures first. Inquire into the Agency's individual client list. Watch out for "Out-of-State" agencies that promise great things, as you may never see them again. Beware of companies that want to put you in a directory, video tape or on the internet. Does the school/agency have national and international affiliations? How long has the agency been established? Be wary of small unknown agencies with no established history - or only one location - you will be at a dead-end if you want to go further. If they are training you, they should be licensed by the State Board of Proprietary School Registration. If they are not licensed they do not meet state regulations and should not be teaching - it is against the law. ... and the most important item - Keep a positive attitude which will bring you much success in whatever you do! 75% of those who work in our industry work because of their GREAT personality.
