PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS
We use a professional photographer for our photomovement workshops and to give our graduates the best possible pictures with which to pursue the modeling/talent industry. In addition as a Barbizon of Akron graduate, you are entitled to unlimited photoshoots at no additional cost. In doing this you can have continually updated pictures.

TELEVISION WORKSHOPS
These include commercials taped and reviewed over closed circuit television. This will give you the foundation you need to pursue the T.V. Commercial market.

CURRICULUM
Our national office is staffed with professionals continually updating all material taught to our students ensuring our students the finest training available. Our curriculum gives students the additional skills they need to succeed in today's world.

COURSE OUTLINE
The major modeling program includes the basics of poise, posture, and self confidence, in addition to fashion shows, trade shows, print work, and TV commercial work, including a graduation ceremony and photoshoots with Cleveland fashion and commercial photographers.

Those interested in pursuing acting should take advantage of Barbizon of Akron's exceptional acting program. It provides the foundation for the skills needed to pursue the acting/film & television markets.

Many of Barbizon of Akron graduates have been placed in modeling and acting jobs which have been very lucrative. We have graduates that have worked worldwide in the modeling/entertainment industry. We also have many graduates that prefer to work on a part time basis locally, usually to earn extra income. Additionally, many Barbizon of Akron graduates go on to very successful careers in other fields as they have the competitive edge that others don't.

Everyone (even photographers that do test shoots) expects you to know what you are doing. You must know how to do your hair, make up, and photomovement techniques. For a photographer or client, it is far too expensive and wastes both time and materials to shoot rolls and rolls of film. You must have the industry knowledge, which BARBIZON OF AKRON can (and will) give you - the competitive edge you need to succeed in modeling, and everything else you come across in today’s society.

SELF-CONFIDENCE: A MESSAGE FOR PARENTS OF TEENAGERS

They speak their own language. They have their own way of dressing. Their needs and desires are distinct. They grow right before your eyes. Who are these unique and wonderful creatures? They are teenagers. And understandably, you probably have many mixed emotions about this period of your teenager's life.

Think back to your adolescence. Remember the confusion? The lack of self-confidence? The tears and fears? As concerned parents, you worry. Knowing that this is a difficult era to grow up in, you want your child to make all the right decisions.

Since 1939, Barbizon has been helping teenagers mature into young adults. Through it all we have maintained a fundamental approach in our training. In fact, we're slightly old-fashioned in our methods. We believe that feeling confident in one's self, means feeling confident when walking into a room full of people. It also means speaking with authority, walking with pride, and dressing with style. We still believe etiquette and good manners are important to self assurance and community values. But don't think for a moment that we are not concerned with the individual at Barbizon, because we are. We are deeply committed to the blossoming of each student. That is why we keep all of our Barbizon classes small, so each student receives individual attention. While we are a modeling school and agency, not everyone who comes to Barbizon has a goal of becoming a model, full or even part time. Even though Barbizon has graduated millions of students many of whom have pursued careers as models, cover girls, actors, and actresses many others come to Barbizon for personal improvement and individual development. So while we train young people in modeling, photomovement, make-up, nail care, hair care, TV and commercial work, we also stress speech, etiquette, health, and nutrition.

There are more than 260 independently owned Barbizon Schools throughout the United States and abroad. We are highly experienced in our methods...proven methods and programs that Barbizon graduates apply every day of their lives.
